Art Of Donut

Once again I'm back on another donut adventure, although this one took me a little bit of a drive from Fort Worth, it was more than worth it. The name of the shop captures it all, Art of Donut. Not only were these donuts too pretty to eat, they were so good you wanted to buy another.

The little shop is located outside of downtown San Antonio, near St. Marys, in a quant shopping center. We walked in and the shop immediately felt cozy and trendy. They had the perfect set up for an instagram photo shoot, with the neon sign and the hipster scenery.

Now what I really came for, the donuts. When looking at a donut shop, I want a donut that catches my attention, whether its a bright pink glazed donut or its a sophisticated small donut. This shop captured it all!

This donut was one I had to get because not only is it topped with my favorite cereal lucky charms but it was huge! The donut itself was light and doughy, while the bright blue icing is sweet but not too sweet! The crunch from the cereal tied the whole donut together to create something magically delicious.

The Bday Cake was a classic twist on Homer Simpson’s favorite donut! Topped with a bright strawberry glaze that is sure to get any young kiddos attention. It was a classic glaze donut with lemon undertones. That was sure to please any sprinkle loving donut fan!

What the French Toast

This donut was one you won't find anywhere else! If you like sweet and savory this one is for you. The flavors kept you dancing around wondering which one was going to hit you first. Would it be the smokey bacon, the cinnamon sugar crunch from the cereal or the maple syrup that was drizzled all over? This donut reminds me of the classic but popular favorite maple bacon!

This donut was absolutely amazing, it may sound a little interesting but here’s why. This donut is made with mashed potatoes!! It was the texture of a cake donut while it didn't taste like mashed potatoes, it tasted like fall! The donut itself was full of flavor and was surprisingly moist for a cake donut, the hints of cinnamon and nutmeg were present in every bite!

I had to save the best for the last, this donut is unlike any donut I've ever had before. They combined a latin american pastry known as a “sopopia” with an american pastry to create what they call Brioche. It was something the State Fair of Texas really needed to get their hands on! This may have the most calories but it was so light and airy that it left you feeling like you just ate a salad!

Who says donuts are only sweet? Well those of you that donut have a sweet tooth these are for you! Pretnuts are pretzels in the shape of donuts, but instead of being hard and doughy they were fluffy and doughy! They are paired with a warm sharp cheddar cheese that made the donut melt in your mouth. Along with the 2 classic pretzel donuts they added another one with a hint on cinnamon sugar and icing on top to combine the perfect sweet and salty pair!
